Have I had three kids since the last Olympics?

It's a bittersweet day at the McDonald house as I bid farewell to the London 2012 Olympics. What exactly are Grant and I supposed to do with all of our free time now? I must say, who knew? I've never followed the Olympics so closely before. Michael, Gabby, Missy, Allison, Sanya, Carmalita and Usain... what will I do without these now household names? I guess parent all three of the children I've had since the 2008 games. My what a difference a few years can make!

The sweetness I mentioned comes from spending the day with my sweet Chunkaman! I can't get enough of this kid. He's the sweetest little cuddly monster.  I do relish the memory of my full nights of sleep and I find the irony in the fact the girls all of sudden can now sleep until 8:30am on the weekends hilarious, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it. It's hectic and loud and wonderful at the McDonald house.

In other news, Go On starring Matthew Perry is on my list of must-see shows for the fall. They played an episode after the Olympics last week, and I loved it! God, let this be the one that sticks. The writing was great. The other characters are actually funny, and dare I say the concept is really good. Don't Studio 60 me again NBC. I've had enough. Other than those brief musings I have nothing else interesting to report. Until next time, remember to use birth control of some sort, it's just another day in the life!

Far Too Long and Too Much Facebook!

Well friends, I've taken what turned out to be a little two year hiatus from my beloved blog, but I can't keep up with Facebook and writing is so much more therapeutic for me anyway, so alas I have returned to my blessed jewel. So much has gone on in that short two year time span. Let's see - surprise surprise, I've had baby number two and am due any week now with baby number three. Is that mathematically possible you ask? Apparently it is. I never thought I'd have so much in common with Britney Spears. Yikes.

Since Reagan Rae was born, we've also moved. I've switched jobs. I have a Facebook page and that's right I still have the same cell phone. I can text, but I can't do much else. Please don't ask me to look up anything, try to send me picture mail or expect me to be able to locate anything that requires GPS for at least 73 more days - because that's when Sprint deems it appropriate for me to get a phone that's been manufactured within the last five years. I digress. But anyhoo, here's the run down by character on what's been going on with The Macs should you have missed anything.

Me- I've been pregnant for a very very long time. I've all but forgotten who I was or what I looked like before all the babies. I start every story with, "I remember a couple of years ago when ..." or "I remember last year when..." or "I remember a few years ago when..." and people immediately ask me: were you pregnant and the general answer is yes, of course or "a duh." I'm hot, tired and hungry most of the time, but I'm definitely happy! My house is full of laugher, joy, peace and a lack of patience on my part- but I wouldn't change a thing. Professionally, maybe a different story. I'm not exactly where I planned to be in life at almost 30, but I have taken a four year break to have my beautiful babies and I don't know if the career driven working woman that I originally signed up to be is the woman I'll see in the mirror in five years. But I'm 100% confident that I will see a successful wife and mother who loves her family and friends and is blessed by them daily. That's what's important and what keeps me going most days. There are still, of course, those days that I say the real things that every woman says but won't admit: I hate my life. I hate my husband. I hate today. I hate my job. I wish I were rich and could read my Kindle, laugh at Wendy Williams and make Food Network recipes while sitting on my ever widening a everyday. Lucky for me I'm only averaging those days every now and again!

Ant- What a super star that man is. He's climbing the corporate ladder one rung at a time and doing great at Wells. He's the ever devoted Daddy and family man. He takes and picks up the girls from school most days and still makes time to help me with housework - in the wake of having no housekeeper. A moment of silence for my beloved Maria. She didn't die, but my old paychecks did. He does it all - swim class, ballet, Little Gym, story time, photoshoots, bath time, dinner and night night time. What can I say? I'm blessed. But don't you worry about whether or not he's getting credit for all of this. He's very careful to remind me of just how wonderful he is daily and how much better he is at being mom and dad than I am. Oh yes, still madly in love and can't figure out how to stop making babies, but it's ALL WORK and we work at it!

Emerie Grace- Oh what a tiny little mini me she is. She's cute as a button and sharp as a tack, but she's me made over sass and all. She'll be 3 at the end of August with the charm and wit of a 13 year old. This morning for instance...
Me: Em, do you want orange or apple juice?
Em: No, juice. I'm good.
What almost three year old is good I ask you? My Emerie. Saturday we're in ballet/tap for all of 45 minutes. She gets in trouble for talking at least 3 times. Then she tells me that her teacher didn't freeze when she said freeze, but she had to freeze when her teacher said freeze. That's not how me and Daddy do it she tells me. A trip. A tiny little trip she is.

Reagan Rae- my oh my, I've met my match with this one. Just to sum up how incredibly busy and out of control my wild child is, I'll just give you a little run down of her injuries:
- Head completely wrapped in that neon gauze from a gash in her eyebrow
-A night's stay in the hospital and an ambulance ride after a little experiment with some sleep aids
-So many scrapes, scars and scratches  I can't even count.
This child should have Thug Life tatted on her knuckles! She's a mile a minute and not at all a girly girl, but she's the most cuddley, affectionate, easy going little thing. I can't get enough of my little Rae Rae. Being 9 months pregnant and keeping up with her makes me feel like I'm up for anything.

Rocky- Oh Rocky's hanging in there. He's near death, I fear. I think the hip dysplasia is setting in and he's almost completely deaf on the left side. Reagan's "pets" are more or less super slaps to the face daily and Em just wants to give him treats until he pukes. Lis, can we get a Bless Your Heart for Rocky? Geez!

Grant Elliott - Well this little man that we've waited what feels like a lifetime for, makes his debut on July 24th. I just can't wait to meet him. He's been playing soccer in my stomach for about 6 months, so I can't imagine what he's going to be like when he's here. He's got a sophisticated little man cave that's grey, white and crimson and somewhat sports themed. His dad can't wait to Red Raider him in the right direction. The girls are excited for us to "pick him up from the hospital" and we can't wait to be the McDonald 5!

Well pictures and musings from our daily shenanigans will follow soon. It's good to be back. Until next time, it's just another day in the life!

Holy Hell, I'm Back!

Alas my loves, I have returned.
And let me say, it's a new day my friends! You know I've made what feels like a sound decision for my rapidly disintegrating mental health today. My friends I give you, my Done List. I've decided to fore go the traditional To Do List since I apparently can't get anything scratched off that, and I'm just going to keep a list of the things I've accomplished. I think it will help the feeling of failure and disappointment if I see things daily like:
Today's Done List:

Said prayers
Was a great mom and wife
Emerie's still alive
Ant hasn't contracted food poisoning
No neighbors called to say they have Rocky covered in mud in their garage
Made one sale at work (maybe)
Managed not to kill anyone in my office
Read a Bible verse
Talked to Lauren
Watched tivoed So You Think You Can Dance
Cussed just the two (or six) times
Thought about reading a chapter of Dear John
See- doesn't that make me sound accomplished. Now I don't feel bad about going to bed at 9:15. I've done a lot with my day! I feel better already. Whew!

So updates in McDonald Land since it's been ages since I've had a chance to blog

  • We're pregnant AGAIN! Yipee! It's off to my usual sick everyday for weeks and weeks start, but the baby's healthy and beautiful and BIG already. We couldn't be happier to have two under two. Get excited everybody- we are!
  • I temporarily lost my mind and took a great new job downtown. Job's great. Downtown I hate. So stay tuned...
  • Emerie is almost 10 months old! Can you believe how fast that time has gone by. She's almost walking and talking and crawling a mile a minute. She actually had her first big fall last night and hit her head a little on the rug. She cried and cried and Dad tried to comfort her first, but all she wanted was Mama. Funniest thing isn't it? Dad is the best for fun and games and bath time, but when she's hurt- only Mama will do. It was okay though. No bumps or bruises and we solved life's problems with an orange BlueBell Bullet! Mama knows sweet sweet Ladybug. Mama knows. Ahhh, already teaching my daughter how to self-comfort with food. Paula Dean would be so proud.
  • Ant got a promotion at work. He's so much happier during the day now! He's learning new things and meeting new people in a different group. He's still with Wells- 10 years strong! I'm such a proud wife. I keep waiting for the wonder of our marriage to wear off, yet we're pregnant again. Three times in three years- Geez- get a room you two. Wait?...
  • I've inserted myself fully into the planning of some upcoming weddings- some real, some fake, some we're just waiting on the ring! Shout outs Razz- can't wait!

Other than that, I can't say that you've missed much. There's a montage of pics of Em. She's just growing so fast. I'm back on the blog peeps. I tried Facebook and failed- too many people, too much pressure, way too much information. Things are changing daily, so stay tuned! If anyone wants to hire someone who is 14 weeks pregnant, due in December, really only wants to work part time if that, needs to make great money, would like to nap during the day, and can be no more than 15 miles from her house- give me a shout. I do great work. I'm looking for local opportunities!!! Love you guys. Missed ya'll.

Captain- Team Edward!

That's right everyone... After much deliberation and basically just being tired of everyone nagging me to read them, I have started reading the Twilight series. And, OMG I'm obsessed with it. I read Twilight in two days, New Moon in a day and a half and I'm feverishly reading Eclipse now. I cannot get enough. Yes, so I've declared myself captain of team Edward Cullen. Love love love him. He is intoxicating with his Sex in the City "Carrie" love for Bella. That's all I can equate it to. Let me explain. For those of you that were huge fans of SITC, remember when Carrie references the kind of love she's looking for in the series finale. She says "all consuming, inconvenient, can't live without each other love." Yes, that's Edward & Bella love. Stephenie Meyer is selling it and I'm buying! I love these books. I should also mention that I've watched Twilight four times now- deleted scenes, extended scenes and my favorite scenes with commentary. I've gone too far. I'm taking the girls to see the midnight showing of New Moon. Any takers?!

So this is me jumping on board with Twilight! Join me won't you... Everyone needs a great love story. Here's a trailor for New Moon if you haven't seen it. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

Baby Girl Goes to Church...

So Em made her first appearance at church last Sunday. I must say it was a success. Not only was my child so incredibly well behaved, but naturally she won the award for Best Dressed as well. It doesn't really bother me that I go to Old Navy and Baby Gap twice a week and maybe I think of Emerie as my own little dress up Barbie. She's pretty stinkin' cute in her apparel. I think she enjoyed church. She was awake for the singing, she woke up to let out a huge, loud poop but other than that, she was pretty much asleep. It was a good trip!

Let's see- what else has been going on? Good things. I now take the time to thank God for small blessings. Like when you go to Rudy's BBQ and order a half a sausage link and they accidentally stick a piece of brisket in there! That made for a good day. Or when your good buddy Big Dee comes in from L.A. and you get to watch the game with her and introduce her to the new love of your life and meet hers. Or when you book a much needed happy hour and hair appointment in the same week! Or my personal favorite, my good buddy the UPS man comes to drop off my latest find... Ahhh, life's small miracles.

You know the expression "those who can't do, teach" well "those who can't wear, birth babies that can then dress them up." I'm happy to report that my baby girl wears it all! She rocks tie die (thanks Logan and Londyn), Uggs, leggings, skull caps (shout outs Shalis) and coming soon... dun da ta da the skinny jean! Shout outs to Leila Love! She's located and purchased a pair for my little one. Sooooo excited!!!

I know, I've had a baby and become boring. Hopefully things will perk up soon. Any who, until next time...

It's just another day in the life. Enjoy the pics!
