Captain- Team Edward!

That's right everyone... After much deliberation and basically just being tired of everyone nagging me to read them, I have started reading the Twilight series. And, OMG I'm obsessed with it. I read Twilight in two days, New Moon in a day and a half and I'm feverishly reading Eclipse now. I cannot get enough. Yes, so I've declared myself captain of team Edward Cullen. Love love love him. He is intoxicating with his Sex in the City "Carrie" love for Bella. That's all I can equate it to. Let me explain. For those of you that were huge fans of SITC, remember when Carrie references the kind of love she's looking for in the series finale. She says "all consuming, inconvenient, can't live without each other love." Yes, that's Edward & Bella love. Stephenie Meyer is selling it and I'm buying! I love these books. I should also mention that I've watched Twilight four times now- deleted scenes, extended scenes and my favorite scenes with commentary. I've gone too far. I'm taking the girls to see the midnight showing of New Moon. Any takers?!

So this is me jumping on board with Twilight! Join me won't you... Everyone needs a great love story. Here's a trailor for New Moon if you haven't seen it. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

Baby Girl Goes to Church...

So Em made her first appearance at church last Sunday. I must say it was a success. Not only was my child so incredibly well behaved, but naturally she won the award for Best Dressed as well. It doesn't really bother me that I go to Old Navy and Baby Gap twice a week and maybe I think of Emerie as my own little dress up Barbie. She's pretty stinkin' cute in her apparel. I think she enjoyed church. She was awake for the singing, she woke up to let out a huge, loud poop but other than that, she was pretty much asleep. It was a good trip!

Let's see- what else has been going on? Good things. I now take the time to thank God for small blessings. Like when you go to Rudy's BBQ and order a half a sausage link and they accidentally stick a piece of brisket in there! That made for a good day. Or when your good buddy Big Dee comes in from L.A. and you get to watch the game with her and introduce her to the new love of your life and meet hers. Or when you book a much needed happy hour and hair appointment in the same week! Or my personal favorite, my good buddy the UPS man comes to drop off my latest find... Ahhh, life's small miracles.

You know the expression "those who can't do, teach" well "those who can't wear, birth babies that can then dress them up." I'm happy to report that my baby girl wears it all! She rocks tie die (thanks Logan and Londyn), Uggs, leggings, skull caps (shout outs Shalis) and coming soon... dun da ta da the skinny jean! Shout outs to Leila Love! She's located and purchased a pair for my little one. Sooooo excited!!!

I know, I've had a baby and become boring. Hopefully things will perk up soon. Any who, until next time...

It's just another day in the life. Enjoy the pics!

Almost back in my fave jeans!

There's absolutely no reason that should be the title of this post, but I use any excuse to say it! Yes, yes Em will be six weeks on Friday, and I'm back in lots of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but not quite in my favorite jeans yet. I have about 7 pounds to go, but I was kind of chubby before I got pregnant so 12 pounds would be optimal.

Anywho, here's some updated pictures of Emerie. She's just the cutest. She's semi-smiling on her own now, which is beyond cute. I just can't get enough of her. I'm settling in quite nicely to my motherhood situation. Now that we have the boob under control and I've made my peace with the fact that I may never sleep again- we are all good. We're getting out and about some now, so I don't have cabin fever. Family life. Greatness

Let's talk about my thoughts on fall tv so far.

Eastwick- WOW, kinda can't even believe I watched it. It was more than ridiculous. That won't be around long.
Modern Family- Freakin fantastic. Smart. Witty. I love it!

Cougartown- Verdict's still out. It's definitely not a bad show. They just have Courtney Cox (one of my faves) trying to be too funny. She's really quick anyway, so they don't have to try so hard. I'm interested to see where it could go by the 3rd or 4th episode.

The Good Wife- I really liked the first 20 minutes, then I was bored. I'm not sold yet. I may not be smart enough to follow it without any humor.

Grey's, Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, The Mentalist- All back on my lineup. Love them.

TV and babies- that's all I got. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

Two Weeks In...

Alright, we're two weeks in to being parents. I've been a mom for two whole weeks... If a picture's worth a thousand words, then I guess we're in good shape. She's still alive, manages to have on cute outfits everyday, weighs a whopping 10 pounds and still eats like a champ! I'd say - so far so good. It's amazing how much she's changed in just a couple of weeks. The top picture is the most recent and they go back from there. She looks so different to me. She has color now and her hair has grown. She also has a little personality, and I fear it's much like her mom's. She's a bit demanding and a little moody. I hoped she'd be laid back and easy going like her dad. Verdict's still out. I'm giving her more time. So anyway- let's talk about the fact that I actually got out of the house for a couple of hours today! Yippe...
Give me a coupon for a free purse at DSW and just 20 short minutes, and I can do some damage. Two pairs of flats, some wedges, a pair of boots and some John and David patent pumps later, I think I got in my retail therapy for the weekend! Oh how I've missed the stores. I also managed to get a pedicure and my eye brows waxed courtesy of my sweet husband, who informed me that I may just have the one eyebrow if I let it go any further. He's such a keeper! It was actually harder than I thought to leave her, but I think I can manage it.
What the hell else is going on? Can someone update me? I've been watching E! and the Food Network, so I know what's going on there. But other than that, I'm in the dark. I know it's time to start narrowing down my selections for Fall tv. With SYTYCD taking up a spot and having a new baby at home, I feel like I can't select too many. Which all that might be a good thing since I'm extremely underwhelmed with the commercials for the new shows. I thought Glee would be really cute, so I watched it the other night. Needless to say- no me gusta. That belongs on the Disney channel or possibly the Family channel. Cougartown looks okay, but I fear it may be a one hit wonder, and all the other medical shows coming out can take their usual backseat to Grey's and Private Practice. Anyone have more suggestions? I do like the Rachel Zoe Project. Big fan!
Anyway, thanks again for all the well wishes, meals and visits. I'll try to keep adding new pictures. Don't expect a birth announcement for about another month! We're taking pictures in a couple of weeks. Until next time,
It's just another day in the life.

And Baby Makes Three

People can tell you, try to prepare you. You can watch it on tv, see it in movies and dream about it even while you're pregnant, but there's no explanation that can come close to describing the moment you bring a child into the world. There's this huge ten month build up, all the showers, you read all the books, visit the websites and then just like that- here she is, and all of a sudden my heart and my family feel complete. Emerie is amazing. She's our small wonder and this incredible combination of Ant and I at our very best. They laid her on my chest - shortly after she almost ripped my entire ass off- and I was so overwhelmed with love and shock and amazement at what I'd just done. Naturally I wasn't the only party involved. Ant was outstanding the entire week leading up to the blessed event and he was more than I ever could have imagined during labor. He should teach classes! Em has already forever changed him and given him a whole different perspective and purpose life. He's up for every feeding, he changes diapers, he sings to her, rocks her, and when she lays on his chest, it's the most beautiful and natural thing I've ever witnessed. God has brought this tiny little miracle into our lives and we'll never be the people we were on August 20th. As of August 21st at 7:44pm, we became Emerie's mom and dad.

Geez, couldn't stay sentimental for that long! Let me give all you mom's to be and those who plan on it someday the low down on the throw down. Labor is the hardest work you'll ever do. I mean that in every respect possible. They should give you a medal of honor and a ceremony after. I mean, yes you get to keep the new love of your life, but wow -is there also a free car or $10,000 bonus or something?! So they show you that one set of three pushes on tv, but that's not the case in the least. Try to prepare- I dare ya!

The hospital stay. No. Rest. None. Yes, you should let your newborn go to the nursery, I totally agree with that. But good God, you might as well keep her with all the people who come in every second of your stay. I assure you you'll meet Joyce, Gladys, Linda, Lori, Hannah, DeAnna, Debbie, Julie, Deserae and Jolanda and they'll want to check your vitals, take your blood pressure, drop off your medicine, give you giant diapers, see if you pooped yet, bring your newborn, take pictures, check their hearing, give you updates on things, get your order for breakfast and generally make sure you can't rest for a single straight hour. Good luck to you on that! They really do take excellent care of you. It's just more than I signed up for!

Any who, those are the pics we have of Em so far and they'll be many more to follow! Shout outs to Lees on the cookie bouquet! It's so pretty and couldn't have come at a better time. I just wanted to update my blog because I know sooooo many of you have called or texted and wanted to come by or talk, and I just haven't had ANY time. Baby equals big adjustments. She has a little Joundus, so we're on a strict feeding schedule and we've got doctor's appointments and stuff the next couple of days. But, we're looking forward to seeing people this weekend and having everyone visit with the baby! We're just a tiney winey bit overwhelmed and sleep deprived. We love and appreciate all the support though. Love you guys, many more updates to follow... or so I think. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

A very special day.

Showers Showers Everywhere!

Well, we had our second shower for Little Miss Emerie this weekend, and again it was so nice and so much fun! I can't believe how many people already love her and can't wait for her arrival. With all the people I'm sure I've managed to piss off over the years, it's hard to believe that that many people still love me! I appreciate all the lovely gifts and both sets of my sweet hostesses that made our showers incredible!
Of course with the second shower, brought my out of town guests and with that comes some old school shenanigans! My favorite thing. Since preggo over here can't participate, I played

observer and laughed until I peed in my pants a little. It was entertaining to say the least. All those involved, you know who you are. In true college form there was the overserved, the passed out on the couch, the emotional nightmare and the volume 800 talker! Oh how I miss my friends! Good times.
Any who, this weekend also brought my birthday! Lucky number 27. I don't know how I feel about this. I'm not one to complain about getting older, however I do feel startlingly close to 30 today. I'm still somewhat in line with my last five year plan, but I think I may start working on another one. This we'll come back to. In other news, SYTYCD has for lack of better words, finally made my sh*t list. Evan. Still. Really? Disgusted.
Well peeps, I'm on the downhill side of this pregnancy business. It's had its ups and downs, but for the most part it's not awful. I can definitely manage this a few more times. We find out on Wednesday exactly where we are and just how much longer we've gotta drag this thing out! Hopefully it's not too much longer. I'm dying to meet this kid. If I had to put my money on a date, which isn't a bad idea, I'd say August 19th. Any takers? Not to worry about the complete distaste my blog is written in for the most part. I'll still be as opinionated and RIGHT as always after baby!
Again, thank you so much to everyone who made it to a shower or helped to throw one. I'm speechless (will never happen again, I guarantee.)
BTW- have you heard that my Rhi Rhi and Chris Brown have had two supposedly "coincidental" meetings since that ill-written, teleprompter read apology??? I just may beat her myself. Until next time...
It's just another day in the life.
