Almost back in my fave jeans!

There's absolutely no reason that should be the title of this post, but I use any excuse to say it! Yes, yes Em will be six weeks on Friday, and I'm back in lots of my pre-pregnancy clothes, but not quite in my favorite jeans yet. I have about 7 pounds to go, but I was kind of chubby before I got pregnant so 12 pounds would be optimal.

Anywho, here's some updated pictures of Emerie. She's just the cutest. She's semi-smiling on her own now, which is beyond cute. I just can't get enough of her. I'm settling in quite nicely to my motherhood situation. Now that we have the boob under control and I've made my peace with the fact that I may never sleep again- we are all good. We're getting out and about some now, so I don't have cabin fever. Family life. Greatness

Let's talk about my thoughts on fall tv so far.

Eastwick- WOW, kinda can't even believe I watched it. It was more than ridiculous. That won't be around long.
Modern Family- Freakin fantastic. Smart. Witty. I love it!

Cougartown- Verdict's still out. It's definitely not a bad show. They just have Courtney Cox (one of my faves) trying to be too funny. She's really quick anyway, so they don't have to try so hard. I'm interested to see where it could go by the 3rd or 4th episode.

The Good Wife- I really liked the first 20 minutes, then I was bored. I'm not sold yet. I may not be smart enough to follow it without any humor.

Grey's, Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, The Mentalist- All back on my lineup. Love them.

TV and babies- that's all I got. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

Two Weeks In...

Alright, we're two weeks in to being parents. I've been a mom for two whole weeks... If a picture's worth a thousand words, then I guess we're in good shape. She's still alive, manages to have on cute outfits everyday, weighs a whopping 10 pounds and still eats like a champ! I'd say - so far so good. It's amazing how much she's changed in just a couple of weeks. The top picture is the most recent and they go back from there. She looks so different to me. She has color now and her hair has grown. She also has a little personality, and I fear it's much like her mom's. She's a bit demanding and a little moody. I hoped she'd be laid back and easy going like her dad. Verdict's still out. I'm giving her more time. So anyway- let's talk about the fact that I actually got out of the house for a couple of hours today! Yippe...
Give me a coupon for a free purse at DSW and just 20 short minutes, and I can do some damage. Two pairs of flats, some wedges, a pair of boots and some John and David patent pumps later, I think I got in my retail therapy for the weekend! Oh how I've missed the stores. I also managed to get a pedicure and my eye brows waxed courtesy of my sweet husband, who informed me that I may just have the one eyebrow if I let it go any further. He's such a keeper! It was actually harder than I thought to leave her, but I think I can manage it.
What the hell else is going on? Can someone update me? I've been watching E! and the Food Network, so I know what's going on there. But other than that, I'm in the dark. I know it's time to start narrowing down my selections for Fall tv. With SYTYCD taking up a spot and having a new baby at home, I feel like I can't select too many. Which all that might be a good thing since I'm extremely underwhelmed with the commercials for the new shows. I thought Glee would be really cute, so I watched it the other night. Needless to say- no me gusta. That belongs on the Disney channel or possibly the Family channel. Cougartown looks okay, but I fear it may be a one hit wonder, and all the other medical shows coming out can take their usual backseat to Grey's and Private Practice. Anyone have more suggestions? I do like the Rachel Zoe Project. Big fan!
Anyway, thanks again for all the well wishes, meals and visits. I'll try to keep adding new pictures. Don't expect a birth announcement for about another month! We're taking pictures in a couple of weeks. Until next time,
It's just another day in the life.

And Baby Makes Three

People can tell you, try to prepare you. You can watch it on tv, see it in movies and dream about it even while you're pregnant, but there's no explanation that can come close to describing the moment you bring a child into the world. There's this huge ten month build up, all the showers, you read all the books, visit the websites and then just like that- here she is, and all of a sudden my heart and my family feel complete. Emerie is amazing. She's our small wonder and this incredible combination of Ant and I at our very best. They laid her on my chest - shortly after she almost ripped my entire ass off- and I was so overwhelmed with love and shock and amazement at what I'd just done. Naturally I wasn't the only party involved. Ant was outstanding the entire week leading up to the blessed event and he was more than I ever could have imagined during labor. He should teach classes! Em has already forever changed him and given him a whole different perspective and purpose life. He's up for every feeding, he changes diapers, he sings to her, rocks her, and when she lays on his chest, it's the most beautiful and natural thing I've ever witnessed. God has brought this tiny little miracle into our lives and we'll never be the people we were on August 20th. As of August 21st at 7:44pm, we became Emerie's mom and dad.

Geez, couldn't stay sentimental for that long! Let me give all you mom's to be and those who plan on it someday the low down on the throw down. Labor is the hardest work you'll ever do. I mean that in every respect possible. They should give you a medal of honor and a ceremony after. I mean, yes you get to keep the new love of your life, but wow -is there also a free car or $10,000 bonus or something?! So they show you that one set of three pushes on tv, but that's not the case in the least. Try to prepare- I dare ya!

The hospital stay. No. Rest. None. Yes, you should let your newborn go to the nursery, I totally agree with that. But good God, you might as well keep her with all the people who come in every second of your stay. I assure you you'll meet Joyce, Gladys, Linda, Lori, Hannah, DeAnna, Debbie, Julie, Deserae and Jolanda and they'll want to check your vitals, take your blood pressure, drop off your medicine, give you giant diapers, see if you pooped yet, bring your newborn, take pictures, check their hearing, give you updates on things, get your order for breakfast and generally make sure you can't rest for a single straight hour. Good luck to you on that! They really do take excellent care of you. It's just more than I signed up for!

Any who, those are the pics we have of Em so far and they'll be many more to follow! Shout outs to Lees on the cookie bouquet! It's so pretty and couldn't have come at a better time. I just wanted to update my blog because I know sooooo many of you have called or texted and wanted to come by or talk, and I just haven't had ANY time. Baby equals big adjustments. She has a little Joundus, so we're on a strict feeding schedule and we've got doctor's appointments and stuff the next couple of days. But, we're looking forward to seeing people this weekend and having everyone visit with the baby! We're just a tiney winey bit overwhelmed and sleep deprived. We love and appreciate all the support though. Love you guys, many more updates to follow... or so I think. Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

A very special day.

Showers Showers Everywhere!

Well, we had our second shower for Little Miss Emerie this weekend, and again it was so nice and so much fun! I can't believe how many people already love her and can't wait for her arrival. With all the people I'm sure I've managed to piss off over the years, it's hard to believe that that many people still love me! I appreciate all the lovely gifts and both sets of my sweet hostesses that made our showers incredible!
Of course with the second shower, brought my out of town guests and with that comes some old school shenanigans! My favorite thing. Since preggo over here can't participate, I played

observer and laughed until I peed in my pants a little. It was entertaining to say the least. All those involved, you know who you are. In true college form there was the overserved, the passed out on the couch, the emotional nightmare and the volume 800 talker! Oh how I miss my friends! Good times.
Any who, this weekend also brought my birthday! Lucky number 27. I don't know how I feel about this. I'm not one to complain about getting older, however I do feel startlingly close to 30 today. I'm still somewhat in line with my last five year plan, but I think I may start working on another one. This we'll come back to. In other news, SYTYCD has for lack of better words, finally made my sh*t list. Evan. Still. Really? Disgusted.
Well peeps, I'm on the downhill side of this pregnancy business. It's had its ups and downs, but for the most part it's not awful. I can definitely manage this a few more times. We find out on Wednesday exactly where we are and just how much longer we've gotta drag this thing out! Hopefully it's not too much longer. I'm dying to meet this kid. If I had to put my money on a date, which isn't a bad idea, I'd say August 19th. Any takers? Not to worry about the complete distaste my blog is written in for the most part. I'll still be as opinionated and RIGHT as always after baby!
Again, thank you so much to everyone who made it to a shower or helped to throw one. I'm speechless (will never happen again, I guarantee.)
BTW- have you heard that my Rhi Rhi and Chris Brown have had two supposedly "coincidental" meetings since that ill-written, teleprompter read apology??? I just may beat her myself. Until next time...
It's just another day in the life.

It Is Finished...

FINALLY... the nursery is done! I want to add a few family photos, but for the most part it's all complete. I love it! Very rarely in life do you have a vision and a plan that actually comes to pass, so I'm really excited.
Any who, onward to one of the other top priorities in my life right now- you guessed it So You Think You Can Dance. I have to say, I judge you if you're not watching. It's THE best show on tv right now. Although, Dirty Sexy Money somehow made a mysterious appearance back on my DVR recordings this weekend. I haven't watched it yet, but a pick up from where they left off maybe? I don't know. Anyway, SYTYCD is in the middle of its best season yet. They've managed to locate and bring Travis & Wade back. Need I say more?
Well there's not much else happening with me. I had a beautiful baby shower last weekend, and I'm super excited about the one coming up! I'm ready to have this baby and a drink. Other than that- it's the same ol same ol! Until next time peeps...
It's just another day in the life.
Oh and just in case you haven't seen Chris Brown's wack apology for beating the daylights out of my BFF, here's the link.

Couldn't Be More Excited!

Do you see that?! We did the 4D ultrasound, and now I couldn't be more excited! I went back and forth and argued both sides of the case, and I just couldn't miss the opportunity to experience all the new technology in ultrasounds. Now I don't know how anyone could not do it! It's awesome :o) To get to see such a clear picture of her and see her moving around in real time in there is just amazing. She was very busy touching her toes, making fists, sticking out her tongue and smiling. With at least 6 weeks to go, I've already seen my baby girl smiling. This kid should be running the house very soon. I'm done. Ant's done. It's over before it starts. Ask, and she shall receive. It doesn't really matter that I can't sleep, my back hurts, I'm officially at least 30 degrees warmer than everyone I know and I'm spending money on breastpumps and nipple cream instead of frilly new bras. I'm gonna be a mom and that's all I can focus on! I'm not gonna lie, her nose is a little concerning, but I grew into mine. She'll grow into hers. She also has what looks like a full head of hair! So neat!!! Did I mention that sister friend is measuring almost a full month and a pound and a half ahead of schedule? Indeed, no newborn outfits needed; she's a big en'.

This was a surprisingly quiet 4th of July weekend, which I can appreciate as I get older. When you're really busy all the time, you start to really appreciate those brief weekends of solitude. It's also nice to be able to spend that time with a person you not only love but actually like. Ant's so good. He's getting so excited! I was telling someone the other day that apparently, I'm just the vessel holding this deal together. This is really Emerie and Ant's story. It's all about them. He talks all the time about all the things they'll do together and all the places they'll go. He sings to her at night even though he knows the words to (zero) this many songs. It's always Daddy/Daughter time at 3320.

So crazy times lately right? Micheal Jackson died. Steve McNair was killed. I mean what's happening here? End times maybe... I don't know, but it's definitely creepy. Hopefully this is it for a while, because seriously the first time I heard "Ben" after Micheal died- it was like taking a bullet in the chest. Not a good day. Other than all that there's not much going on with me. I'm pretty boring. Baby on the brain. Wait- I did see the second Transformers movie this weekend, and may I say "awful." Good God, I fell asleep in the last 30 minutes. I'm so glad Megan Fox is the hottest thing since sliced bread to every man because I thought she might have been drunk the whole time. She is a terrible actress, but seriously they did manage to cover all the bases. They got the tough guy, the made the hot girl as sexy as possible in every scene, they pegged the hero, the token black guy with the incredibly lame lines and the funny guy. All bases covered equals terrible movie. If you have a decent size tv and surround sound at home, just rent it.

Until next time, it's just another day in the life.

It's Been A Long Time!

So, again it's been like a million years since I've had a chance to update my blog, but I'm back on scene! It's been incredibly eventful lately. Lots going on. As you can see, me and baby are moving right along. The belly is soooooooo hot, don't try to tell me any different. Put your small children away and watch turning corners because there's a chance one of my giant boobs might hit you in the face! Daddy Ant has been very busy painting the nursery this weekend. It's SO pink. It looks like Pepto Bismol exploded in there. There are chocolate brown stripes on the bottom to break it up some. I love it! It makes it all feel so real. I'm still in shock a little bit. With our unfortunate history, it's hard to believe that Emerie's in there and she's healthy and happy and we're actually going to get our baby. I don't feel anything but excitement. I'll have to take some pictures of all the cute outfits I've been buying for her. I sincerely hope I don't go bankrupt.
So my apologies. I never promised to be more than a sporadic blogger. I know I'm funny and entertaining, but I can't always find the time. You'll have to live the drab day to day without me sometimes. Deep sigh...
Time out- can we talk about the brilliance that is Self Check Out?! Being pregnant has led me on this hormonal journey of shock and dismay about most things in life lately, but the bright spot came today at Wal-Mart when at a little after 6pm there was no wait in the Self Check Out lane. The beauty of not having to engage in small talk with someone that hates their job and would probably rather work in a call center is priceless. Don't get me wrong, I like most people, but geez I'm in sales. I have friends. I have co-workers that I actually enjoy chatting with. I have 3 sisters and a mom- don't I talk enough? Self Check Out AKA Express Lane to Sanity.
Any who let's talk tv for a minute. Who else is OUT on Addison on Private Practice? If you're caught up this week, please join me in the disgust that is this new Noah doctor. I mean what could she possibly see in this pitiful, weak man that would cheat on his pregnant almost dead wife with her doctor??? It's ridiculous to say the least. And the situation with Kitty and the guy from the park on Brothers & Sisters- I mean I may just stop watching tv all together. Shout outs to Razzy who said it best last week- it's so disheartening to see every marriage end in affairs or divorce. I know it's just tv, but art imitates life imitates art or whatever. I hate expressions. One last thing- someone wake me up when Meredith on Grey's Anatomy becomes interesting. "How does Chief know we're engaged?" "What do you mean I need a white dress?" "I'm not really a wear-the-ring kind of girl" GET OVER YOURSELF- YOU THE MOST ANNOYING PERSON ON TELEVISION. It's almost hard to watch at this point. That's my rant on tv right now.
What else is going on? Anything? Severe weather. The Swine Flu. My craving for lemon flavored snacks. Or my attacking innocent people left and right due to my shock and dismay of all the world's injustice. Not only did I make the poor Market Street man feel like a fool but I've also managed to insult the ice cream man and the poor McDonald's worker that barely spoke English. In my defense the rotisserie chickens should be for the working wives and mothers that need the pre-made food more than the stay at home mothers. If you have a picture of the Pink Panther ice cream bar on the truck then you should indeed have Pink Panthers in your possession at all times. And at this point in the economy you practically have to speak to a manager at McDonald's to get a couple of extra sweet and sour sauces with your nuggets so why do you incessantly hand me three packets of strawberry jelly with my sausage biscuit when I specifically ask for just one? I feel strongly that Ronald McDonald would join me in being both shocked and appalled at this behavior. I digress.
Well I again I'll make the promise to try to update more regularly. Maybe I'll just update with belly pictures every week in the event that I don't have a particular rant that day. I heart you if you're reading this. Until next time...
It's just another day in the life.
